IN THE BEGINNING...South Gate Youth Football, Inc. (aka, South Gate Youth Football & Cheer or South Gate Aztecs, and Aztecs Cheer) is a non-profit organization which began its program in 1989 when a handful of community parents made a 2-year commitment to organize a youth Football and Cheerleading program for boys and girls ages 5-13.

It has been 29 years since then and we continue to dedicate ourselves in providing a fundamental nurturing environment that help build a strong foundation for future success in sports and in life.  This is our mission—and children is our focus.

OUR MISSION...There were far too many kids in our community without proper role models; too much time on their hands, no one to provide encouragement in the classroom, physically unhealthy, and a lack of guidance to help teach important life values. We are proud to represent these values and while in our youth football & cheerleading program our greatest importance is to challenge the youth to make them well-rounded and assets to society.  We must take the challenge to encourage our youth to keep their grades up, to maintain high classroom attendance, and to get involved in school and community activities. They will carry this foundation throughout their lives.

We are simply a group of adult volunteers coming together with a common goal to create an environment that upholds the ideals of sportsmanship, teamwork, academics, physical well-being, motivation, inspiration, skills development, and above all to bring our families together in the South Gate community.  WE ARE FAMILY!
